Xmas WorkshopEarlier this year we were approached by Aberdeen City Council with a request to run a Flower Arranging Workshop as part of the Winter Festival events - we were delighted to participate. At the pre-workshop planning meeting, it was decided that a “Christmas Cake” would be a suitable arrangement for the time of year.

On a stormy Friday afternoon, our patient chauffeur (Rose’s husband Pete) collected the four Tutors and stowed us, all the equipment required for the workshop and a selection of stock for a sales table into his car. There wasn’t an inch of space left over and, packed like sardines, we then spent forty minutes in a traffic jam on King Street! Eventually we arrived at Provost Skene’s House and were set up by the time the class assembled. Ann led the tuition, showing how the “cake” was constructed in stages and, once the basics were completed, the attendees were free to decorate their cakes as they pleased. As always at a Workshop, it was amazing to see so many variations on a theme - all the finished cakes were fabulous and no two the same.

We had some lovely feedback from the attendees; they were all proud of the arrangements they had created and we hope that some will take up our invitation to visit the Club early in 2013.
